A REVAMPED VPN ACCESS WITH EDUVPN
A new VPN access has been available since April 2024 for users of institutions linked to eduID, including those with a Restena account. With the eduVPN service, the Internet connection is protected and the connection to the RESTENA network is used to access resources dedicated to education and research. Beyond this security, the possibility of choosing an exit point in another country participating in eduVPN opens up a different view of geolocated services. The result of collaboration between research and education networks in Europe, eduVPN represents a practical alternative to commercial solutions for VPNs within institutions. The now obsolete VPN, which until now has been available only to Restena users, will be deactivated on 1 September 2024. Read more
NEW PRICES FOR .LU OPERATIONS
Fees for operations on .lu domain names - managed by Restena as part of its .lu registry activity and offered for sale to the public via, in particular, its accredited registrar - are changing on 1 March 2024. This change, a first since 2010, intends to reduce the impact of the increasing cost base and ensure the stability and smooth operation of the .lu domain. Read more
SOC IN ALERT OVER NETWORK-RELATED ALERTS
Setting-up a training infrastructure for SOC operators and network-related alerts, based on real-data, is on the agenda of the European NGSOTI project that started in January 2024 and is coordinated by the Computer Incident Response Center Luxembourg (CIRCL) of the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity. A project partner, Restena will contribute its expertise and dataset. Read more
NEW CONFIGURATION OF THE PUBLIC RESOLVER
Restena has replaced the server of its publicly available recursive DNS resolver, in order to integrate this resolver within the new infrastructure being developed in the context of the European LuCySe4RE project, that intends to improve the protection of Luxembourg’s research and education institutions against cybersecurity risks.
