DNS PROTECTION FOR THE YOUTH

The latest Restena service, the DNS firewall, protects Luxembourg's school community by blocking access to inappropriate sites on the educational networks of all the secondary schools in the country. In partnership with the Centre de Gestion Informatique de l'Education (CGIE), the filtering system has been set up via a DNS server operating at the heart of the education and research network and specifically adapted for use by pupils. This measure reflects the wishes of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth to better protect pupils from overexposure to inappropriate or even dangerous content. Read more

CLOUD SUPPLIERS AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2025-2029

Following a public tender led by the GÉANT association, the European research and education community is benefiting from an updated range of cloud-based services and service providers for a five year period. In Luxembourg, the number of available platforms has reduced from 13 to 7, but the range of services - from IaaS to SaaS - remains identical for the period 2025-2029. Read more

SECURING ZONE FILE TRANSFER WITH TLS SERVING .LU

Integration tests on secure DNS zone transfers using TLS jointly conducted with nic.at, the Austrian registry for .at domain names, have produced convincing results. In the future, Restena will integrate this innovative technology within the .lu technical infrastructure. Read more

A CAREER DEVOTED TO THE RESTENA NETWORK

After 35 years working for the RESTENA network and the Restena Foundation, Alain Frieden retires. Alain, one of the pioneers in his field, set off the RESTENA project and brought the initial RESTENA network architecture to life, but not only. He also set up the first international Internet connection in Luxembourg. Read more
