Belgian-Luxembourg cooperation for TNC27

Corporate

Restena and Belnet are joining forces to host TNC27, the GÉANT Association conference bringing together each year over 900 members of the reseach and education network community from over 70 countries.

The Restena Foundation and Belnet, acting as National Research and Education Network (NREN) for, respectively, Luxembourg and Belgium, will jointly host TNC27, the research and education networking conference.

Collaboration, a key component for TNC27

With a first edition that took place over two decades ago, the TNC conference is organised each year by the GÉANT Association, an association which brings together all the NRENs in Europe and manages the pan-European research network. Restena and Belnet, both members of this association, are now joining forces to host TNC27, the future edition of TNC from Monday 7 June to Friday 11 June 2027.

A first for the conference organisation, this configuration highlights the spirit of collaboration between the GÉANT members and the strong ties that have always bound the two countries together. In Belgium, close to Luxembourg, the city of Liège was chosen to bring together over 900 participants around feature plenaries, interactive sessions, lightning talks, networking corners, partners’ booths, etc.

A prestigious conference

The TNC conference brings together network and cybersecurity specialists, researchers, university representatives, decision-makers and technology partners from across Europe to explore the future of research and education networks. Over the years, it has travelled the length and breadth of Europe, depending on the hosting of GEANT’s institution members. The last five editions of TNC have been held in Finland, Great Britain, France, Albania and Italy. Belgium, for its part, has already hosted the event in 2008.

While registration for TNC27 will open in early 2027, professionals in the research and education sectors, as well as those working in the field of telecommunications networks, can already start getting ready to take part in this unique event, which will take place less than 200 kilometres from the Luxembourg border.
