Through its 2023 annual report four main chapters - key figures, highlights, governance and annual accounts – the Restena Foundation highlights its main activities interconnecting and providing network and security services for both research and education and management of the .lu domain name registration infrastructure.
Driven by the commitment of a team made of 23 employees and marked by two retirements and the integration of five new recruits during the year, the achievements of the year 2023 were numerous. Among them were several new ones.
- Launch of a new service for the research and education community: a secure and privacy-friendly URL shortener.
- Launch of the European LuCySe4RE project whose aim is to improve the protection of Luxembourg’s research and education institutions against cybersecurity risks.
- Participation in the European Lux4QCI project - led by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) of the University of Luxembourg - that intends to provide the first experimental quantum communication infrastructure network in Luxembourg.
- Co-authoring with DFN a working document including a standardisation proposal to allow the development of a new authentication method to enterprise networks combining EAP and FIDO 2 standards.
- Publication of a tip sheet on data backup.
- Modernisation of my.lu/online, the online .lu domain names registration and management platform.
In addition to these key activities, Gilles Massen, Director of Restena, is re-elected as a member for a two-year term of office at the European Association CENTR Board of Directors and invoices for the classic management of domain names are now sent to Luxembourg public sector bodies via Peppol.
